You are invited to take part in an assessment of young people’s levels of civic engagement. The survey is being conducted by the Eagleton Institute of Politics. Students in three New Jersey high schools will be taking this assessment during the 2007-2008 academic year. We are conducting this assessment to help improve the civic education of high school students.
The survey will measure your political knowledge, interest in politics, your attitudes regarding politics and public officials, and your inclination to participate in the political process. The survey will take approximately 12-15 minutes to complete. The survey also will ask you to indicate your age, gender, and race/ethnicity. Students taking this assessment have been assigned a unique identification number to prevent students from taking this survey more than once. All identifying information (including information linking your identity to the identification number) will be kept confidential by limiting access to the data and by storing all identifying information separately and securely from the answers to the questionnaire.
You may skip any questions that you are not comfortable with. You also may quit the survey at any time. Your grades will not be affected in any way by your decision to take this survey or not to take this survey.
